"We All Belong" Mural Unveiling Lecture & Dance Party

Join Murals at Mason for the unveiling of a new Arts and Design building installation, the "We All Belong" mural, commissioned from artist and School of Art alumnus (‘05) Federico "MasPaz" Frum. The work relates to the current art exhibition in Buchanan Hall Atrium Gallery, curated by Center for Mason Legacies affiliate Professsor Gabrielle Tayac, Offerings to the Potomac: Acknowledging Indigenous Place.
This two-part event begins with "MasPaz" discussing the work in the Harris Theater and via Zoom, 4:45-6:30 p.m. The Unveiling Party follows, 7-10 p.m., with music, dancing, performances, community-artmaking and a Mini Patriot Packout Free Store and Donation Swap to address basic needs insecurity, promote resource sharing, and reduce waste. The mural conveys interconnectedness and reciprocity between humans, animals, and the natural world. The group of people represent the global origins of the Mason student community. They are embracing each other and are surrounded by a variety of patterns that reference animals, plants, and symbols of learning and creativity. It incorporates animal elements including a dove, bear paw and human footprint, fox, snail, lion, turtle, hummingbird, butterfly, salmon, and natural elements includeing the sky, sun, moon, cloud, wind, sea, fire, rainbow, corn, Baobab tree.
