Ashleigh Williams is a PhD student at George Mason University, studying 20th century Germany, race and gender. Her specific research foci are the experiences of Black Germans, migrant populations, women and national identity construction in (East) Germany’s post-World War II period.
She is concurrently a Graduate Research Assistant at GMU (Professor George Oberle, History Librarian at Fenwick Library) working on developing a digital project that centers the experiences of Black American soldiers returning to the Northern Virginia area from their service in the European theater of World War II. She previously studied at Texas State University (BA International Relations) and Sam Houston State University (MA History).
